Department: Athletics Specific Job Title: Sports Performance Coach Reports to: Deputy Athletics Director
Job Summary: Reporting to the Deputy Athletic Director, the incumbent will be responsible for managing and supervising the sports performance operation of men's basketball. Lead strength and conditioning related activities for assigned men's basketball. Instruct strength training and conditioning related techniques and ensure safety and maintenance of the training facilities and equipment. Other duties assigned by the Deputy Athletics Director or the Head Coach Men's Basketball.
Essential Functions: Design and implement individualized strength and conditioning programs, individualized based on position, skill-level and head coach's expectations for the men's basketball student-athletes.
Instruct student-athletes on proper technique and execution of Olympic lifts, free weight exercises, flexibility, plyometric training, agility movements, speed development, aerobic and anaerobic conditioning, and all other parameters of sport.
Communicate with the head coaches daily to facilitate training needs, as well as coordinate the rehabilitation activities of student-athletes with athletic training and physical therapists.
Responsible for managing and supervising the sports performance operation of men's basketball. Lead strength and conditioning related activities for assigned men's basketball.
Instruct strength training and conditioning related techniques and ensure safety and maintenance of the training facilities and equipment.
Other duties assigned by the Deputy Athletics Director or the Head Coach Men's Basketball.
Oversee the yearly budget and purchasing for the department as well as weight-room scheduling and maintenance.
Immediately establish and continuously maintain a working knowledge of the NCAA and BIG EAST Conference rules and regulations and St. John's University Policies and Procedures. Continuously operate within the guidelines, policies and procedures in your area of responsibility within the department to ensure 100% compliance with the NCAA/BIG EAST rules and regulations.

Knowledge of Sports Performance, Strength and Conditioning, industry trends, latest advancement, and best practices.

Work Environment Modified office space and strength and conditioning room.
Physical Demands Lifting heavy weights. Physical ability to handle bulky or heavy stock items, equipment, and supplies routinely exceeding 50 lbs.
Environmental Conditions Need to ensure maintenance of office and strength room and report any issues per protocol.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work This position is full-time: days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Gameday responsibilities and travelling is required. may be required as well as select nights and weekend.

Required Education and Experience: - Bachelors' degree required, Masters degree preferred in related field
- 2-4 years of experience in sports performance training athletic
- CCSA / NSCA certification or other acceptance certification.

- Knowledge of MS Office (MS Word, MS Excel, MS Powerpoint) required
