Department Purpose

The UC Davis Department of Intercollegiate Athletics (ICA) in partnership with the Associated Students, University of California, Davis (ASUCD) has established a number of new full-time staff positions that will be referred to as, ICA & ASUCD Fellowships. These positions will be available to recent UC Davis graduates who aspire to work within Intercollegiate Athletics and meet the qualifications as outlined in the following job description.

Job Summary

Under close supervision of the Director, Athletics Communications, help publicize UC Davis’ 25-sport intercollegiate athletics program, primarily through the official UC Davis Athletics website (UCDavisAggies.com) plus social media channels (e.g. Facebook, Twitter). Assist in writing press releases and feature stories, assisting in production of both print and online publications, coordinating game-day services for specific sports and assisting in services with others, compiling/maintaining statistics and records, and coordinating interview requests from outside media outlets. Along with the Athletics Communications Staff, serve as the primary media contact for approximately five sports, which will be determined in part by the successful candidate’s experience. Such sports may include baseball, cross country, field hockey, golf, gymnastics, lacrosse, soccer, softball, swimming & diving, tennis, track & field, volleyball or water polo. The position will also entail assistance with such sports as football and basketball.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (primarily Word and Excel).
• Strong familiarity with the most common social media platforms.  

Preferred

• Background in customer service.
• Experience with such programs as Adobe Creative Suite (e.g. InDesign, Photoshop, Acrobat, and Illustrated).
• Graduate from UC Davis within the last year.
