University of South Alabama is seeking a Graduate Assistant for Athletic Compliance. This position reports directly to the Associate Athletic Director of Compliance and is responsible for assisting in all aspects and facets of a successful athletics compliance program at the NCAA Division I level. The graduate assistant will ensure compliance with all Department, University, NCAA, and Sun Belt Conference policies, procedures, and regulations.

Job duties will include: support the Associate Athletic Director for Compliance and Compliance Coordinators in the daily operations of NCAA and conference rule compliance. Responsible for understanding and interpreting NCAA rules and regulations as well as initial and continuing eligibility guidelines. Assists with the recruiting process, including but not limited to eligibility information via the NCAA Eligibility Center, official and unofficial visits, and recruiting logs. Assists in the maintenance of all NCAA required forms. Assists in securing and submission of transfer releases. Assists in updates to coaches on status of prospective student athletes through the NCAA Eligibility Center. Assists in providing High School transcript evaluations in regards to initial eligibility. Updates Athletic Department and compliance policy and procedure manual. Research and analyze interpretations of NCAA and Sun Belt Conference rules using the NCAA Division I Manual and NCAA Legislative Services Database (LSDBi). Create and update compliance-related forms and educational documents. Editing and maintaining information within the compliance database; and other duties as assigned by the Athletic Director, or Associate Athletic Director of Compliance.

Applicant must be admitted into a graduate program at the University of South Alabama and maintain a Grade Point Average of 3.0.  Applicant must hold a bachelor’s degree and have an understanding of NCAA rules and regulations. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, demonstrated ability to work independently, show initiative and meet established goals. Strong computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, Acrobat, and Power Point.
