Loyola University Maryland is in search of an Assistant Director of Athletic Communications. The position is responsible for assisting the Associate Athletic Director with development and operation of communications for 18 NCAA Division I intercollegiate programs with primary responsibility for several of the sports including the nationally-ranked men's soccer and women's lacrosse teams. A high emphasis will be put on aligning closely not only with assigned teams, but with the branding and marketing efforts of the entire department to best promote Loyola Athletics. The successful candidate will work freely within the traditional scope of athletic communications while also employing skills in social media, graphic design, video and written content to provide social and digital content to fans, recruits, media and others. The assistant director of athletic communications will:
- Assist with developing and executing the department's strategic digital communications and social media plans.
- Maintain the branding and visual standards pertaining to the creation of graphics, photography, and video projects for content creation/branding on digital and social platforms.
- Promote assigned sports through traditional media relations means, including press releases, notes, previews, and recaps.
- Promote assigned sports and general athletics events through all social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.).
- Lead the coordination and training of student-workers and gameday staff employees.
- Media contact for multiple teams.
- Assist with video projects and photography as needed.
- Serve as the sport's statistician, historian and archivist, as needed.
- Work closely with other departments (marketing, video production) in developing an overall content management strategy for each sports program.
- Coordinate and manage the publicity efforts with national and local media â“ managing and setting up all media appearances (TV, Print, Radio, etc.)
- Establish and maintain working relationships with local, regional and national media.

- Bachelor's degree required.
- 2-3 or more years experience required in athletic communications or related field
- Proficiency in social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram)
- Video shooting/editing and photography experience preferred.
- Strong graphic design required.
- Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite.
- Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
- Knowledge and understanding of intercollegiate athletics preferred, preferable with experience at the NCAA Division I level preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to organize multiple tasks, meet deadlines and plan schedules.
- Ability to travel.
- Website design and maintenance experience.
- Proficiency in Stat Crew, Genius stats preferred.
- Experience with web editing through Sidearm Sports preferred.
- Must be able to work nights and weekends.
