The Vincennes University Athletic Department is looking for an individual to act as the Assistant Coach for the Cross Country/Track & Field Teams. This position reports directly to the Head Track & Field /CC Coach.
Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Coaching experience or was a previous collegiate student-athlete.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Strong public service orientation to work well with faculty, staff, students and the community.
Skills in organization, prioritizing, and scheduling work assignments.
Duties and Responsibilities
Plans, organizes and helps coach the Cross Country and Track & Field teams. the head
Assists in designing meet plans, strategies, and meet management.
Recruits and recommends individuals for scholarship opportunities.
Primary emphasis on identifying, recruiting, retaining, and mentoring successful student-athletes with diverse populations.
Assist the head coach in developing a unified athletic program with the university.
Assist with building a positive team culture, including instructing and requiring from all students participating in sports, the highest standards of citizenship, sportsmanship, and conduct.
Assist with monitoring student-athlete’s academic progress, including study tables.
Assist with conducting all events in the assigned sport according to the rules and regulations prescribed by the NJCAA, Region XXIV and Vincennes University.
Assist with instructing and skill development during practices and meets,
Additional qualifications include communication skills that allow for the ability to instruct, motivate, and counsel student-athletes effectively. Must be self-motivated, positive, and energetic. This job requires traveling and must have a valid driver’s license.
