The Assistant Athletic Performance Coach is responsible for directing and developing a high level of strength & conditioning services for UNCP student-athletes participating in 16 varsity sports. This position will have oversight of the development of sport-specific strength training and conditioning programs that are scientifically-based, and involve periodic/cycled regimen of exercises and drills to optimize strength, power, flexibility, mobility, agility, speed and/or work capacity-designed to enhance sport performance and decrease incidence of non-contact injuries. The Assistant Athletic Performance Coach must demonstrate & implement safe, effective, and proven exercise techniques at each training session, and deliver programs in an organized manner using the field's best practices. The coach will strategize and adjust current strength training programs with coaching staff and sports medicine staff collaboration, and communicate with individual coaching staffs regarding student-athlete performance and rate of progress. This position will manage all interns in alignment with team and facility schedules, and conduct performance evaluations for all interns.
Minimum Requirements: • Bachelor's degree required and at least 2 years of experience in the field of collegiate strength & conditioning. Preferred Candidates are expected to have the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform the essential functions of the position. • Knowledge of strength and conditioning exercise technique, periodization, exercise safety. • Ability to organize and teach groups ranging from 2 to 50 student-athletes at one time. •Preferred NSCA – C.S.C.S (Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist) OR CSCCa – SCCC (Strength and Conditioning Coach Certified) • CPR /First Aid Certified.
