The Lamar University Athletic Department invites applications for our Ticket Office Graduate Assistantship position. This is up to a two-year assistantship position with an estimated start date of August 23, 2021. This position will report to the Assistant Athletic Director, Ticket Sales and Service. Applicants should have the desire to pursue a career in sports sales, marketing, development, communications, operations or a related field. Marketing, sales, business and sports management/administration majors are preferred. Candidates should have excellent communication skills (oral and written) and enjoy working in a people-oriented setting. Prior work experience is preferred, but training is available if candidate displays a strong work ethic and willingness to learn.
Job Duties: • Help the ticket department exceed its annual attendance and revenue goals. • Assist in management of game day operations, special events, and everyday operations of the Athletic Department. • Manage all Ticket Office responsibilities for assigned sports including staffing and cash and attendance reconciliations. • Hire, train, schedule, and supervise part-time ticket office staff and interns. • Assist Director of Ticket Operations in preparation and game-day management of Football, Men’s Basketball, Women’s Basketball, Baseball, Softball, Soccer, and Volleyball. • Manage general will call and solving customer service-related issues. • Oversee student-athlete and recruit complimentary ticket distribution. • Assist in printing and distribution of season and single game tickets. • Maintain relationships with existing clients to ensure long-term partnerships. • Distribute season ticket, group, and individual ticket information to existing and potential clients. • Field questions regarding individual tickets, season ticket plans, and group outings. • Work home athletic events as needed. Weekend and night shifts are routinely required. • Maintain accurate records in ticketing & CRM systems • Assist in database management, email marketing, and performance analytics. • Perform other responsibilities and duties as assigned. Necessary Skills: • Knowledge of and commitment to NCAA rules and regulations. • Outstanding customer service and communication skills. • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite. • Being comfortable working in a high-volume, fast-paced environment. • Attention to detail and highly organized with cash handling experience. • Previous experience in a collegiate or professional ticket office preferred. Required Qualifications: • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university. • Prepared to apply and be accepted into a graduate program at Lamar University. • Able to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
