Position Summary: Recruit, plan, organize and oversee the Developmental Women’s Soccer Program with the primary emphasis on teaching the game of soccer and instructing the student-athletes in how to perform in soccer matches. Assist the Head Women’s Varsity Soccer Coach in all areas related to the women’s soccer program. Ensure Athletic Department and institutional compliance with NCAA, South Atlantic Conference and Catawba College rules and regulations.
Principal Duties: 1.Primary responsibility for all aspects of training, teaching and coaching the Developmental Team, to include but not be limited to scouting, practice planning and on field coaching. 2.Secondary responsibility to assist the Head Women’s Soccer Coach with all aspects of training, teaching and coaching the Varsity Team, to include but not be limited to scouting, practice planning and on field coaching. 3.Responsible for all aspects of administrative duties for the Developmental Team to include but not be limited to scheduling practices and games, team travel and monitoring the academic progress of the Developmental Team. 4.Assist the Head Women’s Soccer Coach with all aspects of administrative duties for the Varsity Team to include but not be limited to scheduling practices and games, team travel, supervising work study students and monitoring the academic progress of the Varsity Team. 5.Recruit a minimum of 6 new, incoming non-scholarship freshmen each year for the Developmental Team. 6.Work with the Admissions Office staff and Financial Aid Office staff to ensure a good working relationship with Women’s Soccer and to recruit qualified prospective student-athletes to the College. 7.Maintain a Developmental Team roster of at least 20 players each year. 8.Organize and play a Developmental Team schedule of up to 16 games each fall. 9.Other administrative duties as assigned. This will include coordination with all athletic staff such as the Athletic Director, Compliance, Sports Medicine, Media Relations, Video and Strength & Conditioning. 10.Assist the Head Coach with fundraising and development of alumni and community relations. 11.All other duties assigned by the Head Coach.
Minimum Qualifications: Need to have effective verbal and written communication skills; Bachelor’s Degree required; coaching experience at the College or Club level; good organizational skills; and be able to work independently. Must have an understanding of NCAA and Conference rules and regulations. Regular work hours are Monday-Friday 8:00AM-5:00PM. Will also be required to work evenings, week-ends and holidays. CPR certification is required.
