To develop, promote and supervise all facets of the College’s Baseball program. Oversee the academic excellence of all student-athletes that are involved with the program. Manage the Fundraising Efforts for the Baseball program. Provide vision and leadership for the Baseball program.
Duties and Responsibilities:
§ Training/Practice Preparation – Establish a vision for the program. Plan, prepare, and execute practice and game plans, strategies, and alternatives which are designed to bring success to the program.
§ Game Preparation - Design a competitive schedule that maximizes athlete development and performances. Relate in a positive and effective manner with officials, opponents, parents, media, and the public.
§ Recruiting – Recruit quality athletes capable of pursuing the baccalaureate degree in accordance with the rules and regulations of the governing bodies and in such a manner that reflects the best interests of the program and the College.
§ Budgeting and Fundraising – Participate in the formulation of budget and ensure that the program operates within the approved budgetary parameters. Work in coordination with Sr. Associate AD and Assistant AD/Development to meet the program’s fundraising goals.
§ Administrative Compliance – Ensure that all relevant institutional, conference, and NCAA rules and regulations are followed including, but not limited to, player eligibility, recruiting, financial student aid, scheduling, and academic progress. Assist the Assistant AD/Compliance in preparing all required documentation.
§ Staff Management – Make hiring and firing decisions for assistant coaching staff. Provide supervision, development, and evaluation of staff.
Education: B.S. degree required from a recognized college or university. Master’s preferred
Experience: Minimum of three (3) years of head baseball coaching.
Established contacts in New York baseball.
Recruiting experience desirable.
Specialized Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills. Competence in leadership, and decision making. Excellent interpersonal skills. Strong initiative, detail and follow up skills with students athletes and staff members. Demonstrates professional image on and off the field. Skills in counseling, and mentoring athletes. Proficiency with Excel and Microsoft Word.
Physical Requirements: Work is performed in a coaching, athletic, competitive out door environment. Must be in excellent physical health to handle fast pace environment. Able to work in hot, humid weather and stand for long, extended periods of time.
