Summary: Reporting to the Director of Athletics, Supports Director of Athletics in strategic initiatives and goals for the department. The job duties of the Associate Athletic Director for Compliance develops procedures and policies to monitor and ensure compliance with the university, NCAA, and conference rules and regulations in the areas of recruiting, financial aid, amateurism, and initial eligibility. The Associate Athletic Director for Compliance is responsible for overseeing these areas and serving as the lead for establishing and maintaining consistent and equitable policies for all sports and administrative areas. Responsible for sport oversight of Women’s Tennis and Softball. Work Performed: Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Senior Staff Leadership: Provide Christ-like leadership of the compliance department and athletic department in accordance with the mission and values of the University. Provide high-level management to assigned areas of responsibility and take initiative to lead research and develop projects and concepts that are designed to advance intercollegiate athletics programming and services.Collaborate with Director of Athletics and other unit leaders to advance the goals/mission/core values of the University and department. Demonstrate high- level of confidentiality and discretion. Utilize advanced communication skills, demonstrate ability to respond well to multifaceted and complex situations, and display incisive diplomacy and advanced tact when dealing with complex issues.Represent the department at various events and engage in significant participation on committees and events for the enhancement of unit goals/objectives. Interact with mid-to-upper level University managers and VPs, various external constituents, and serve as a liaison to various units.
NCAA and Athletic Department Records: Oversee completion of institutional and NCAA Annual reports, including the following: Financial Reports, Academic Reports, Sport Sponsorship,Title IX Attestation, Compliance Attestation, Federal Equity in Athletics Disclosure Act Report, NCAA Probation Reports, APR Improvement Plans, Institutional Compliance Manual, Student-Athlete Handbooks, Department Hurricane Policy, CSU Strategic Plan, Athletic Department WIG Coordinator
Compliance: Provide ongoing rules education program for athletic department staff, booster, and other University personnel.Serve as the official campus liaison between the institution and the NCAA.Officially contact Conference and/or NCAA for rules interpretations in response to coach questions. Update Financial Aid Director, Registrar, Director of Compliance, and other individuals responsible for compliance on NCAA legislation changes.Investigate and report violations of NCAA regulations in accordance with established Big South Conference policy. Prepare institution’s response to all NCAA violations.Supervise the initial, continuing and transfer eligibility certification process to ensure its completion in accordance with NCAA regulations.Supervise and manage Compliance staff.
Administration: Lead departmental initiatives from Big South Conference and NCAA.Coordinate all Big South Conference game changes.Assist Director of Athletics with department’s strategic plan and execution.Complete conference tournament bids on behalf of Director of Athletics.Serve and represent Director of Athletics on numerous committees both externally and campus wide.Oversight of department’s Title IX. Supervision and Chair of the department’s SAAC.Assist Director of Athletics with student-athlete meetings regarding feedback, concerns, issues, etc.Manage and solicit student-athlete feedback annually and as required. Contract administrator for Athlete Viewpoint and Arms software.Manage all sports post season NCAA appearances paperwork to ensure accuracy and completion. Oversee planning and execution of annual Bucky Awards event and establishing awarded categories.Liaison for department with university housing department.
Sport Supervision:Responsibility of oversight of all aspects of assigned sport(s). Primary contact for Head Coach to bring questions, concerns, and suggestions to. Assist Head Coach in finding solutions to issues surrounding and hindering program success.Communicate requests, suggestions and solutions to Director of Athletics as deemed necessary.Travel to sport’s conference championship tournament appearances as needed. Travel to NCAA appearances for team and attended NCAA administrator meetings as needed.
Supervisor Responsibility: Director of Compliance, Compliance Intern, Head Softball Coach and Head Women’s Tennis Coach
Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.
Applicants must have excellent written and verbal communication skills. Must be computer literate with a working knowledge of Windows and MS Office, and the ability to quickly learn and work with new computer software systems. Must be able to work effectively independently and as part of a team. Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service. Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices.
