The Women’s Basketball Head Coach is a full-time, benefitted, 12-month pay plan, exempt position. Working independently under the general direction of the Director of Athletics and in collaboration with the Department’s administration, the Women’s Basketball Head Coach is responsible for all aspects of managing and directing a NCAA Division II women’s basketball program. Competing in the Lone Star Conference (LSC), ENMU Greyhounds intercollegiate teams and specifically women’s basketball has earned conference and regional championships over the years.

GREYHOUND ATHLETICS ENMU competes in the expanded Lone Star Conference that stands as the largest athletic conference in NCAA Division II with 19 affiliated institutions. The Greyhounds compete in 13 intercollegiate sports in NCAA DII level and in the NIRA with the men’s and women’s rodeo teams. Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Greyhounds saw unprecedented success in the last few years on and off the field. As a department, the Hounds earned two qualifications into the NCAA National Tournament over a three-season span and set program records for wins in a season in women’s soccer. The track and field program advanced to the national meet for three straight seasons and Eastern New Mexico football has finished with a record of .500 or better in conference play in Division II football’s toughest conference. The Greyhounds have also been presented the Lone Star Conference Academic Excellence Award on both the men’s and women’s side over the course of the last three years and had five different teams crowned the academic sport champions for their respective sports last season.
MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS Bachelor's degree and three years of women’s basketball coaching experience required. Master’s degree and head collegiate coaching experience highly preferred.
• Working knowledge of NCAA Division II by-laws, rules, and regulations • Familiarity with the Lone Star Athletic Conference and Southwest region • Candidate must be able to work as a team member and be self directed and be willing to serve as goodwill ambassador for ENMU Athletics • Must have a commitment to the integrity, success, and prosperity of intercollegiate athletes • Proven leadership in the successful fulfillment of basketball coaching responsibilities including; basketball strategies; coaching skills; recruiting; individual and team camp operations; fiscal management; fund-raising; organizational/administrative leadership; public relations. • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills. • Valid New Mexico Driver’s License or the ability to obtain one within 30 days of employment, as well as the ability to safely operate a motor vehicle in all kinds of weather/road conditions. Successful applicant may be encouraged to seek CDL passenger bus license endorsement. • Must be of good moral character with conduct consistent with University/state codes of conduct.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: • Demonstrated coaching skills in area of sporting specialty • Strong interpersonal, communication and leadership skills and the ability to work effectively with student athletes • In-depth knowledge of applicable sports and playing rules • Knowledge of NCAA rules governing the recruitment and retention of student-athletes
Physical Demand and Working Conditions: • Work is performed inside a non-smoking facility • Work requires traveling • May have exposure to bloodborne pathogens • Work is medium in nature that at times requires exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects

The position will remain open until filled with initial screening of candidates beginning immediately. The start date for the successful candidate is somewhat flexible but ENMU would prefer to have the candidate start in July of 2021. Salary will be commensurate with education and experience.
