Associate Director of Video Content / Video Boards
James Madison University, a Division I member of the NCAA and Colonial Athletic Association, is seeking an Associate Director of Video Content to work within the Communications Department. This is a full-time position with a comprehensive benefits package. The Associate Director of Video Content will serve as part of the video services unit within the Branded Content Team to oversee creation of video content for Athletics venue video boards with an emphasis on internal and external displays for the Atlantic Union Bank Center as well as displays at Bridgeforth Stadium and other athletics venues. The position works closely with an on-site Daktronics event producer to plan and execute content needed for board productions at venues. The individual also collaborates with the Branded Content Team (video services, marketing and communications) for scripting, planning and brand consistency. This position reports to the Director of Branded Content.
Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Conceptualize and develop content and videos for in-venue productions, including but not limited to: highlights, hypes, features, fan engagement pieces, etc.
Work closely with Daktronics event producer to execute in-venue video strategies.
Contribute to video unit strategy for sporting event filming with particular focus on venue video needs.
Collaborate with Branded Content Team for ideation and brand consistency with an emphasis on maximizing fan engagement.
Schedule and film video shoots with all sport programs for all feature content (green screen, studio interviews, fun vignettes, etc.), including studio and set design configuration.
Work with students to help accomplish venue video needs.
Collaborate and provide technical expertise on future facility projects and improvements related to video and technology infrastructure.
Contribute to overall strategy and content development of the video services team.
Successful candidates should possess experience in intercollegiate or professional sports video content development. Experience in a live production setting could be helpful but not required.
Candidates must possess good interpersonal communication skills, knowledge of video filming techniques (shooting and editing) as well as proficiency with video production software with preferred experience with Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe After Effects and other Adobe Creative Cloud elements.
Must be able to create content for unique aspect ratios.
Thrives in a creative setting with outside-the-box thinking on content development and set design.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office software is also required.
Individuals must demonstrate knowledge of the video production process, camera operation, different camera and lens types, proper filming techniques, lighting design, studio configurations, audio production and the post-production process.
Candidates must be highly motivated, energetic, be able to balance multiple tasks, produce high-quality work on tight deadlines, be detail-oriented with ability to manage heavy load of deliverables and be able to manage a work schedule that includes evening and weekend work.
A bachelor’s degree is preferred with areas of study in media design, multimedia, cinematography, digital arts, audio/video technology, communications or a related field.
