The Sunshine State Conference (SSC), an NCAA Division II conference based in Melbourne, Florida, is accepting applications for the position of Women’s Lacrosse Coordinator of Officials. The successful candidate will have experience as either a conference coordinator and/or official at the collegiate level, as well as expert knowledge of NCAA Women’s Lacrosse Rules. The Coordinator will report to the Commissioner.
Responsibilities: •Assign officials for all SSC contests.
•Use Arbiter website (or equivalent) to assign, pay, and evaluate officials.
•Recruit and select qualified officials for the SSC pool of officials, with an emphasis on growing the base of officials in the State of Florida.
•Educate, train and mentor officials as appropriate.
•Strategically and thoughtfully assign officials to keep travel expenses as low as possible.
•Implement conference policies and directives as established by the SSC.
•Attend SSC championship and make determination on conference and NCAA tournament assignments as requested.
•Participate on SSC lacrosse coaches conference calls twice annually.
•Recommend to SSC information related to game fees, game administration and other related issues.
•Discuss concerns of SSC coaches and administrators in a professional and timely manner.
•Implement and administer a clear, well-defined evaluation process for officials.
•Report to the Commissioner in a timely manner any problems related to coaches, bench or player unsporting behavior throughout the season.
•Other duties as assigned by the Commissioner of the SSC.
Applicants are required to have a bachelor’s degree.
Outstanding communication skills.
A minimum of five years of NCAA Lacrosse officiating experience.
Expert knowledge of NCAA Lacrosse Rules.
