Eastern Michigan Athletics is accepting applications for a Ticket Office Graduate Assistant position. Located in Ypsilanti, Mich., Eastern Michigan is a member of the Mid-American Conference (MAC) and sponsors 19 Division I sports. This is up to a two-year assistantship with an estimated start date of August 1, 2021. This position will report to the Senior Director, Sales, Service, and Operations, and the Manager, Sales, Service & Operations.
Applicants should have the desire to pursue a career in sports ticket sales, ticket operations, marketing, leadership, or a related field. Marketing, sales, business and sports management/administration majors are preferred. Candidates should have excellent communication skills (oral and written) and enjoy working in a people-oriented setting. Prior work experience is preferred, but training is available if candidate displays a strong work ethic and willingness to learn.
Help the ticket department exceed its annual attendance and revenue goals
Assist in management of game day operations, special events, and everyday operations of the Athletic Department & Convocation Center
Manage responsibilities for ticketed sports including staffing and cash and attendance reconciliations
Assist in preparation and game-day management of Football, Men’s Basketball, and Women’s Basketball, in addition to all Convocation Center concerts & events
Hire, train, schedule, and supervise part-time ticket office staff and interns
Manage general will call and solving customer service related issues
Oversee student-athlete, staff, recruit, and visiting team complimentary ticket distribution
Assist in printing and distribution of season and single game tickets
Maintain relationships with existing clients to ensure long-term partnerships
Distribute season ticket, group, and individual ticket information to existing and potential clients
Handle questions regarding individual tickets, season ticket plans, group outings, and concerts and events.
Make outgoing calls and contacts in order to generate new sales and attract new companies/fans/patrons
Sell individual tickets, season ticket plans, and group outings for various University events and all events held at the Convocation Center and Rynearson Stadium
Work home athletic, concert, and special events as needed
Assist with marketing and sales events on campus and in the local community
Perform other responsibilities and duties, as assigned
Outstanding customer service and communication skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
Being comfortable working in a high-volume, fast-paced environment
Attention to detail and highly organized with cash handling experience
Previous experience in a collegiate or professional ticket office preferred
Knowledge of and commitment to NCAA rules and regulations
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
Acceptance into a graduate program at Eastern Michigan University
A minimum cumulative undergraduate grade point average of 2.7 on a 4.0 scale or 3.0 in the last half of the undergraduate program. Some departments require higher minimum GPAs; see specific program requirements
Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays
Compensation: The Ticket Office Graduate Assistant will receive a full tuition waiver for their graduate program, plus a bi-weekly stipend. This stipend covers the academic calendar of September 1 through April 30, with additional compensation available for work done outside this time.
