Ohio Wesleyan University (www.owu.edu) is a selective, private, undergraduate liberal arts, residential institution founded in 1842 and is located just 20 miles north of Columbus. The University’s Athletics Department is actively seeking applications for the position of Head Coach – Women’s Soccer. This twelve-month full-time position offers full employee benefits.
The Head Coach - Women’s Soccer is responsible for all phases of managing a competitive NCAA division III women’s Soccer program. The ability to coach and teach all aspects of the game, provide leadership and mentor student-athletes, recruit and have the ability to evaluate talent and potential, are essential skills. Administrative and operational duties such as arrange travel, manage budget, and develop alumni contacts and fund-raising are also essential duties of the head coach. The addition of a secondary responsibility will be included.
It is also expected that the Head Coach - Women’s Soccer will embrace supporting the academic mission of the university, developing student-athletes as contributors to the greater community, creating opportunities for competitive success, leading student-athletes to understand what it is like to be part of something greater than oneself.
Bachelor’s Degree Demonstrated, relevant and successful coaching experience at the collegiate, club and/or high school level Successful recruiting experience at the college or university level, demonstrating an ability to identify and attract outstanding students and players Effective oral and written communication skills Student-centered focus Experience advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion, and supporting students from diverse backgrounds. Ability to actively foster a respectful, positive environment that welcomes all persons. CPR, First Aid and AED Certification preferred (and can be completed after hire)
Master’s degree Ability to articulate the role that athletics plays in a rigorous academic collegiate setting and the importance of academic endeavors of student athletes Experience exhibiting the highest standards of professional and ethical behavior and adhering to all rules and regulations of Ohio Wesleyan University, the North Coast Athletic Conference, and the NCAA. Effective leadership and interpersonal skills CPR, First Aid and AED Certification preferred (and can be completed after hire)
