Under general direction of the Assistant Athletic Director for Media & Community Relations, the Sports Media Assistant will assist with all aspects in the management of an NCAA DII Athletic Marketing and Communications department, managed in accordance with NCAA, Great Midwest Athletic Conference (GMAC), and Hillsdale College policies and regulations. This is a 10-month position.
Prepare, capture, edit video content for use in-game, on social media and website inventory – to include but not limited to highlight videos, hype videos, and content for feature stories Assist with team media days Provide support to social media management throughout athletic department Assist with media support at athletic events. Coordinate interview requests and weekly content items – pre-practice/game, post-practice/game, midweek – for athletes, coaches and administrators Assist at home athletic events, specifically ticketed sports Provide support with in-game statistics as needed Assist with coverage of athletic teams to include photography, and video. Other event responsibilities as needed and directed by Asst AD-Media & Community Relations.

Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Sports Management, Communications or related field preferred. Interest in a career in sports marketing, video and/or communications preferred. Previous experience producing video content highly desired. Experience with social media platforms in the sports industry preferred. Ability to communicate effectively required. Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, DSLR cameras, PrestoSports websites or similar content management systems preferred.
Average physical strength is required.
Must be able to ambulate, step, climb, stoop, bend twist and carry heavy objects over uneven terrain.
Must be able to hear, see, talk, read and communicate with Hillsdale College colleagues, athletes, prospective athletes, donors and other constituents orally and in writing.
Must be able to safely lift up to 50 pounds.
Frequently works in outdoor weather conditions.
Knowledge of NCAA rules & regulations a plus.
Knowledge of social media.
Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions and to communicate ideas orally and in writing.
