The Sports Information Director is responsible for the overall administration of sports information, communication and promotion for Pacific University’s Athletic Department, that supports a diverse population of over 500 student-athletes.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
Serve as the lead statistician and provide live statistics for home events through StatBroadcast (or other system)for the sports of Baseball, Softball, Football, Soccer, Lacrosse, Basketball, Swimming, Volleyball using StatCrew, NCAA Stats and Hy-Tek
Compile statistics for all in-season sports following home events and report to opposing team SID, Northwest Conference and the NCAA.
Compile and maintain historical data and all-time statistics and records for all sports.
Order and maintain all necessary scorebooks.
Hire and supervise game staff (scorekeeper, scoreboard operator, shot clock operator, announcer, computer statistician, videoboard production, livestream).
Provide adequate training for game staff in both equipment operation and use of statistical software.
Create and manage PA scripts and timelines for each competition as needed.
Work with coaches and teams to create and manage fan appropriate pre-game/in-game music.
Livestream (Blueframe/Production Truck/Playsight)
Maintainand provide recommendations for upgrades to all livestream equipment as needed.
Create live stream broadcasts for all home events in the sports of Baseball, Softball, Football, Soccer, Lacrosse, Track & Field, Basketball, Volleyball, Tennis, Wrestling and Swimming.
Create additional content for the livestream production (line-ups, commercials, etc.).
Have knowledge of and be able to use Daktronics scoreboard consoles (Football, Soccer, Baseball, Softball, Lacrosse, Tennis)?Have knowledge of and be able to use videoboard equipment for production i.e. Tri-caster
Create graphics and GIF content for the videoboard (Football, Soccer, Lacrosse, Track & Field)
Maintain content on Stoller Center videoboards.
Assist coaches and administration in nominating athletes for Northwest Conference, regional and national recognition.
Coordinate Hall of Fame nominations for the Hall of Fame selection committee and lead organization of the Hall of Fame event.
Coordinate end of the year Boxer Awards and assist with organization of the SAAC year-end celebration.
Provide information and data for Boxer Club Student-Athlete of the month.
Assist Coach with Senior Day activities including social media graphics, live stream content and in game execution.
Serve as primary media contact for Pacific Athletics.
Arrange and coordinate external media interviews with players and coaches.
Provide media passes and media seating upon request for athletic events.
Use BoxOut Sport to create graphics.
Teach coaches and student workers how to use Boxout Sports to create graphics and other materials for their teams and recruiting.
Coordinate action photography of all teams while in season and manage SMUG MUG photo account.
Develop relationships with Northwest Conference SID and fellow professionals at sister schools.
University Marketing and Communications
Develop relationships with the Marketing and Communications office and work with them in keeping sites in line with University policy and style.
Submit requests for and manage the operating budget for sports information with the Director of Athletics.
Must maintain working knowledge and follow all Northwest Conference Sport Procedure Manuals and NCAA rules.
Student-Worker and Contract Worker Oversight
Hire, train and supervise staff to provide game management for volleyball, soccer, basketball, football, swimming, lacrosse, golf, wrestling, track & field, baseball, and softball.
Utilize PayCom & Subit Up to hire and manage student-workers.
Assist with the development and implementation of an internship program through the Sports Communication major on campus.
Oversight of the following areas that will be the direct responsibility of the Assistant Sports Information Director and Coaches with Additional Responsibilities.
Maintain all aspects of the Athletic Department website(rosters, headshots, bios, scores, recaps, etc.)
Report all scores and statistics to opposing institutions, the Northwest Conference and NCAA as required.
SECONDARY FUNCTIONS:Other duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics or Senior Associate Director of Athletics.
The Sports Information Director will report directly to the Director of Athletics. The Sports Information Director will be responsible for direct supervision of the Assistant Sports Information Director and of student-workers and contractors.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
A Bachelor's Degree is required. Two years in Sports Information or a related field (Journalism, Communications or Broadcasting) is required. The successful candidate should possess a broad knowledge of athletics, sports statistics and NCAA rules and procedures. Skills in livestreaming, photography, social media and broadcasting are a plus.
Knowledge of Macintosh and PC platforms is required. Microsoft Word and InDesign is essential in addition to knowledge of StatCrew and website maintenance. Graphic design is a plus.
Additional Salary Information: Salary will commensurate with experience.
