Executive, Executive - Athletics Director, Executive - Business Manager
LSU Alexandria is seeking applicants for the vacancy of Athletic Director for the university. The AD reports directly to the Chancellor and provides leadership and supervision of intercollegiate athletics which includes varsity sports and club sports. The AD coordinates all departmental activity, provides oversight to all varsity team sports, is the liaison with the General’s Athletic Association (GAA). Responsibilities include:
Identify, hire, support, and evaluate head coaches in all varsity sports.
Field teams that sustain competitive success at commensurate or greater levels in comparison with LSUA teams in recent history.
Provide oversight, management, and support of all athletic department personnel.
Oversee the planning and operation of the unit's $1.2M annual operating budget, as well as oversight and management of unit’s privately fundraised dollars.
Develop and implement a strategy for financial self-sufficiency.
Work collaboratively with senior-level campus administration. Work closely and in collaboration with the Office of Strategic Communication on all Athletic related marketing and advertising campaigns.
Develop and sustain consistent, transparent communication with departmental personnel, campus administration, and other athletics representatives.
Partner with the university to raise funds through the Generals Athletic Association from alumni, friends, and the State of Louisiana to support approved plans for athletic facilities, scholarships, operations, and personnel. Establish fundraising goals with detailed plans, with measurable outcomes on how these goals will be achieved.
Promote LSUA and the Generals athletic program to potential donors at all specified fundraising events.
Promote LSUA to potential student-athletes and their families. Provide for a safe, inclusive environment for all student-athletes.
Oversee a robust program of academic, social, and career support for student-athletes.
Monitor and ensure academic success of student athletes. Retention of student athletes, graduation rates as well as student athletes’ GPA should be comparable to those of all LSUA students.
Represent LSUA at meetings, including the GAA, Red River Conference, NAIA, and serve on committees within these associations to strengthen LSUA’s voice and presence as a member in good standing.
Oversee the management of athletic facilities, including both their athletic and non-athletic uses.
Maintain an understanding of NAIA and Red River Conference rules and regulations to promote and advance the program's integrity and compliance.
Develop and sustain a culture that values diversity and inclusion, including such areas as recruitment, hiring, and programing.
Coordinate game scheduling and matters pertaining to tournaments and post-season competition with coaches and conference officials.
Oversee matters pertaining to student-athlete and staff compliance and discipline.
Oversee athletic scholarships to ensure eligibility, compliance, and fund management.
Maintain a positive culture within the LSUA Athletic Department that embodies the values and attitudes of an outstanding intercollegiate athletics program.
Support and extend the role of athletics in outreach in the community and state.
Provide innovative leadership -- on LSUA’s campus and in pertinent conference and national settings -- on how the collegiate model evolves during the ensuing years of transition and reform.
Bachelor’s Degree or higher from an accredited college/university is required. Degrees in business management, sports management, physical education, or related field are preferred. Master’s degree preferred.
Three (3) years minimum experience in athletics at junior college or university level is preferred.
Direct experience in budget management.
Work independently with attention to detail.
Ability to self-direct and work proactively to enhance a team environment.
Ability to meet deadlines, organize, and balance short and long-term projects while prioritizing daily tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Knowledge of and experience in intercollegiate athletics at NAIA level.
Experience with fundraising in an athletic context preferred.
Knowledge of facility management and operation.
Ability to self-start, be creative, show initiative, and meet established goals and deadlines.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to use Microsoft Word, social media platforms, and Adobe Creative Suite design applications preferred.
