Missouri Western State University, located in St Joseph, Missouri, 45 minutes north of Kansas City, has a great opportunity for a Head Athletic Trainer. MWSU is an NCAA Division II institution, which successfully competes in the Mid-American Intercollegiate Athletics Association (MIAA) in 16 sports.
The Head Athletic Trainer develops and maintain the overall sports medicine program for Missouri Western State University Athletics.
Responsibilities include: •Oversees, directs, and schedules day-to-day health care management of student athletes. •Serves as liaison to professional team physicians. •Develops departmental procedures regarding emergency management, treatment and rehabilitation of injuries in compliance with NCAA and other governing regulations. •Monitors environmental conditions such as temperature, humidity, heat index, lightning, and other extreme weather situation for events and practices for NCAA and MIAA regulations. •Prepares requisitions for athletic training equipment and supplies. •Maintain detailed and accurate inventory log of all OTC medication and properly store OTC medications as dictated by the State of Missouri. •Review and approve athletic-related medical bills and insurance claims to determine accuracy and compliance with NCAA and MWSU. Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.
Master’s degree in Athletic Training, Physical Education or Kinesiology and two years athletic training experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.
