The University of Missouri, a member of the SEC and a Division I institution, is seeking highly motivated applicants for the position of Sr. Strategic Communications Consultant. Reporting to the Deputy Director of Athletics, this position will be responsible for writing news releases, feature stories and biographical information; publishing information on the athletic department website; creating graphics and messaging for social media posts; editing and designing game programs and other athletics department publications; arranging press conferences, interviews and photo shoots; managing press box accommodations; compiling and archiving statistics, records, photography and other information and nominating student-athletes, coaches and teams for awards. Ability to travel with select teams will be required.
Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, journalism, sport management, or related field; minimum of two years of previous experience preferably in communications or public relations within a college athletic department or professional sports organization; excellent communication skills including strong media writing ability; ability to organize, prioritize and schedule work assignments; demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office, Adobe InDesign and Adobe Photoshop and ability to travel with select teams. Preferred qualifications to include Masters degree, experience as a graduate assistant or intern in athletic communications; proficiency with sport statistics programs such as Stat Crew and NCAA LiveStats; experience managing one or more team or departmental social media accounts; graphic design/illustration skills and experience as a public address announcer for one or more sports.
