Description: CUI Athletics Department is currently seeking qualified candidates for a graduate assistant position within Operations (Facilities and Event Management). This position will assist full time staff members in the coordination and operation of 19 varsity sports, 5 club sports, special events, and external events. This is a two year position, reviewable/renewable at the conclusion of year one.
The Graduate Assistant for Facilities and Game Management will report to the Director of Athletics and assist in a variety of roles pertaining to facility and event operations. Working all home contests is mandatory. The position mentioned will assist with a variety of tasks and functions related to the day-to- day management of athletic events and facilities in addition to supporting game day operations for all varsity athletic competitions, practices and special events. This role would include serving as the CUI on site Administrator on duty, assist with tournament management for PacWest Conference and other conferences, student-worker management, NCAA post-season preparation, and work closely in conjunction with the Sports Information Director.
Supervision of game day staff will include supervisory authority over the following: (including but not limited to): graduate assistants, student workers, contracted vendors, facility management staff (i.e. grounds maintenance, custodial), athletic communications, athletic marketing, equipment staff, and ticket operations. This position will require strong critical thinking and decision making skills.
This is a learning based position(s), fostering growth for career readiness upon departure from Concordia University Irvine in the areas of facility management, managerial organization, NCAA regulations, and general athletics operations.
Game Management- Oversight of assigned game day setup, scheduling, operation manuals, game contracts and logistics. Working with conference and officials to adequately operate under NCAA and conference rules. Coordinating needs of home and visiting teams, practice times for visiting teams, locker room coordination, and any other duties as needed.
Facilities Coordination- Assistance in monitoring maintenance, organization, safety and upkeep of facilities. Working with staff to provide needed services related to each groups area of operation. Working on building access needs in coordination with campus safety.
Event Management- Oversight of internal and external events including promotional activities, sponsored events, staffing, service request, budgeting and meeting event's needs. Creating and implementing operational plans related to each event.
Coordinate with staffing by facilitating projects within the department to student interns and oversee student staff and event staff at all home sporting events.
Assist with facilities scheduling including varsity and club team games and practices, camps, clinics, recreation services and external/rental users as well as other items as assigned.
Understanding and experience in collegiate athletics
