The University of Louisiana at Lafayette Athletics Department is seeking a qualified Assistant Director of Athletics for Athletic Performance. This position will report directly to the Deputy Director of Athletics and will work only with Olympic Sports teams.
- Enable student-athletes to perform to their physical potential in their sports through the development and management of individual and group weight, strength, and fitness training programs - Develop programs by evaluating current physical conditioning, having knowledge of the various sports and associated exercises, tailoring strength programs for specific needs, demonstrating proper performance of exercises, and correcting mistakes - Manage programs by monitoring progress and providing assessment of development - Coordinate student-athletes rehabilitation with Sports Medicine and assist with the rehabilitation of injured athletes - Coordinate and collaborate student-athletes nutritional needs and concerns with Sports Nutrition - Create and maintain the staffing of the weight room - Schedule weight room training for the various sports - Supervise the intern program, which includes evaluating and scheduling - Other duties as assigned.
- Master’s degree in (Exercise Science, Kinesiology, or related field preferred) from a regionally accredited institution. - 5-7 years of collegiate athletic/sports performance or comparable experience required. - Certification by the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association or National Strength and Conditioning Association, and current CPR/AED and first aid certification.
- Exhibit excellent written and verbal communication, organizational, public relations, interpersonal, customer service, and supervisory skills when working with student-athletes, faculty, staff, coaches, and administration. - Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others; commitment to working with multi-cultural populations. - Have strong work ethic and be a person of high integrity and character who shares a commitment for knowing and complying with NCAA, Conference, and Institutional rules as they apply to the University of Louisiana at Lafayette Athletics program. - Ability to work extended daily hours, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
