The Intercollegiate Athletics Department at George Mason University, a member of the Atlantic 10 Conference, invites applications for an Assistant Coach, Women’s Volleyball. This is a full-time, 12-month position. Promote the philosophy and objectives of the Department of Intercollegiate Athletes including adhering to all Departmental, University, A10 Conference and NCAA rules and regulations;
Assist with the development in the overall student-athlete experience by helping to mentor student-athletes both on and off the court including evaluating their performance in practice and competition while providing leadership and instruction in areas of deficiencies as required;
Assist with developing and implementing recruiting strategy. Assist in off campus scouting and evaluating of talent in prospective student-athletes:
Assist in coordinating team travel including team meals, itinerary planning, bus and flight transportation, and coordinating final details of hotel reservations;
Participate in the collection and analysis of tactical and statistical data of opponent tendencies and assist in designing scouting reports and strategies;
Participate in video analysis with student athletes including individual film, positional film and overall team film;
Help run and participate in clinics, exhibitions, and camps as approved by the university;
Represent the Department at professional, civic, charitable and alumni events, as requested;
Must be committed to the academic goals of the university and to helping each student-athlete in their pursuit of academic success at George Mason.
Advanced degree or a combination of training and work experience at a level that equates to an advanced degree;
Demonstrated experience coaching at the college level in the field of volleyball;
Must be knowledgeable of and adhere to NCAA, conference and state rules and regulations;
Demonstrated commitment to the retention and academic success of student-athletes;
Demonstrated coaching and recruiting success, experience in organizing and motivating student-athletes to maximum performance level;
Demonstrated ability to work, communicate and develop rapport with students, alumni, administration and community groups;
Demonstrated awareness of and sensitivity to the educational goals of a multicultural population as might have been gained in cross-cultural study, training, teaching and other comparable experience.
Collegiate and/or professional playing experience.
