Position Summary: The University Athletic Association at the University of Florida is searching for an Intern, Assistant Academic Advisor. This position is a time limited internship with the option for a second year if essential criteria is met. The internship is intended to provide a practical, hands-on experience in the area of student-athlete academic advising. The position will assist in conducting academic meetings with assigned student-athletes to monitor academic progress, degree progress, and continuing eligibility; efficiently utilizes various student databases such as my.UFL, Canvas Observer, GradesFirst, and TeamWorks; creates and submits student-athlete academic reports to counselors and coaches; and assists in coordination of departmental events, such as Student-Athlete Welcome Back, FLAs, Recruiter Roundtable, and Graduation Celebration. The intern will assist in providing professional level support and programs to student-athletes in accordance with the regulation of UF, UAA, SEC, and NCAA.

Additional Information: Prior to entering UF’s campus, a COVID-19 screening must be taken through UF Health in order to be ‘cleared for campus’. Minimum Education & Experience Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in a related field of expertise such as but not limited to Education, Sport Management, Psychology, or Counseling
Desire to work a full-time Intern schedule in Student-Athlete Academic Advising
Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality as well as a high standard of integrity and professionalism
Flexible, detail oriented and possess the ability to work independently or as part of a collaborative team
Ability to engage effectively with others of diverse cultures or backgrounds
Ability to work a non-standard work week which will include evenings, weekends and holidays
Experience working in an intercollegiate athletic academic office or participated in college athletics as a student-athlete
Experience with my.ufl, Canvas Observer, GradesFirst, and Teamworks
Intention to pursue a Master’s degree at the University of Florida.
