Western New England University invites applications for the Athletic Communications Director.
This position is a full-time, 12-month appointment. The position will be responsible for all duties associated with the marketing, public relations, and promotion of a leading-edge NCAA Division III athletics program. Managing a staff including graduate student(s), undergraduate students, and interns, this position’s primary responsibilities will be to manage and oversee the game day operation of the department’s 20 Varsity NCAA Sports as it relates to statistics, livestreaming, broadcasting and photography. Additionally, this position will manage the creation of timely content, both digital and in print, to market and promote the University, Department of Athletics, and our student-athletes.
This position will be responsible for, but not limited to the following essential duties:
•Manage all in-game operations for home athletic events as it relates to live statistics, live streaming, broadcasting, public address announcing, and photography. •Responsible for the recording and reporting of statistics to the NCAA, Commonwealth Coast Conference and other necessary outlets. •Develop and execute a digital marketing strategy including appropriate social media channels. Focus should be placed on the creation of timely and relevant digital content. •Responsible for the timely updating of the department’s athletics website. •Produce timely press releases, game/student athlete stories, and other promotional materials supporting both athletic events and department special events. •Create and design, appropriate printed materials including but not limited to game programs and inserts, recruiting brochures, and other printed promotional materials. Where appropriate and supported by the budget, manage the outsourced vendors that may be associated with these materials. •Nominate teams and student athletes for national, regional, and conference weekly and yearly awards. •Recruit, train, and manage sports information staff including graduate and undergraduate students, and interns. •Plan and manage the sports information budget. •Coordinate athletics hall of fame nomination and selection efforts as a vital member of the Hall of Fame committee. •Act as department liaison to the University marketing and communications departments. Provide input into the marketing, admissions, and recruitment efforts.

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field required; Master’s degree preferred. • Demonstrated experience (supervisory experience preferred) in a collegiate Sports Information/Athletics Communication department. • Excellent oral and written communication skills. • Experience executing a digital marketing strategy including social media channels, managing an athletics website and the creation of digital content. • Experience with content design programs Adobe Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator (or similar) are preferred. • The ability to articulate the vision, mission and core values of Western New England University and Division III athletics. • The ability to work collaboratively with the athletic department, as well as with staff members of other divisions/departments on campus. • Knowledge of NCAA Division III rules and regulations including Title IX required.
