Position Summary: The Graduate Assistant (GA) Coach of Greenville University’s NCAA Division III Basketball program is an integral member of the Athletic Department at Greenville University. This individual must be committed to the Athletic Department mission to Foster Christian Character, Athletic Development, and Academic Achievement in a Christ-Centered Community.
The GA works primarily with the head coach, associate head coach and student-athletes to ensure that each Greenville University student-athlete and prospective student-athlete receives a quality experience. This opportunity requires the availability to work a variable schedule which may include nights and weekends. Hours will be determined by mutual agreement and work to best accommodate the GA’s academic schedule as well as the needs of the basketball program. The GA will gain experience and learn skills necessary to be better equipped for a potential future career in coaching.
Responsibilities: •Faith Integration is the heart of our program. This may include activities such as individual meetings with student/athletes, team bible studies, and mission trips. •Under the supervision of the associate head coach, take primary responsibility for the Junior Varsity program. •Assist in administering NCAA Division III intercollegiate program, including recruiting, scheduling, budgeting, travel and practice plans. •Ability to coach, teach, and train student-athletes in skills and strategies to allow them to be as competitive as possible. •Assist in the planning, organizing, implementing, and evaluating of recruiting and scouting activities. •Assist the overall athletic department in game management/sports information and/or special events. •Scheduling: Game schedule (Varsity and JV) - Travel Planning - Housing- Game Preparation: - Film exchange - Scouting Reports- Sports Information •Help to recruit quality student athletes each year. •Assist in coordination of overall recruit database. •Manage the recruiting letter contact system. •Phone Calls, Email and On-Campus Visits.
Skills and Experiences:
Experience within a collegiate athletic environment preferred and/or coaching experience.
Strong organizational, communication, interpersonal skills, problem solving skills, and the ability to work independently with a high level of confidentiality.
Excellent communication skills including the ability to work with diverse student-athletes and groups.
Ability to multitask and prioritize projects
