The Assistant Director of Game/Event Management reports to the Director of Game/Event Management and assists in the planning and preparation of LSU Athletic games, events and facilities as assigned. The Assistant Director of Game/Event Management will be responsible for the coordination and management of services essential to ensure events are successful and in line with the mission and standards of LSU.
40% Oversees all event/game management and parking operational duties for LSU Volleyball, Gymnastics, Softball and Men’s and Women’s Tennis including regular season, post-season, university and external events including camps. Responsible for event/game and parking management duties for assigned sports and venues including the logistics and game operations coordination and management. Plans and prepares guest services and security needs for events and develops best practice guidelines for staff. Conducts sport meetings and evaluates and communicates with coaches and support staff. Aid with event and facility management duties as assigned for football gameday, which may include any of the following: management and coordination of special events, stadium and parking operations, guest service support.
30% Oversees internal and contracted event staff for all internal and external events in LSU Athletics Facilities. Duties include but not limited to: recruiting, training, HR, planning and organizing internal event staff for over 125 internal gameday positions, instruction & management of 600 contracted event staff, 20 plus emergency medical personnel, approximately 200 security staff & law enforcement and all other staff necessary for event success; communication with multiple vendors and departments to ensure events are successful. Staffing positions include transportation management duties.
20% Oversees the process for payroll for approximately 300 university and transient employees working athletic events and gamedays. Collection of information, instruction, and data entry to ensure employees are paid in a timely manner.
5% Assists with the athletic departments bid process for hosting SEC and NCAA championship events on campus. Budget planning and fiscal responsibility for all event and facility needs.
5% Other LSU Football game day and special event responsibilities as assigned.
Bachelor's degree (Preferably in Sports Management or related field) with two years of post-college, full time experience in an athletics event/facility management position. Organizational, administrative and computer skills to include word processing, spreadsheet, and database, preferably Microsoft Office; Strong interpersonal skills; Experience in financial aspects of managing facilities and events, preferably in a collegiate setting; Supervisory experience.
Master's in Sports Management of related field. Relevant experience at the NCAA Division I level; Proficiency using EMS scheduling software, WeatherSentry and Sling employee scheduling software.
