Mary Baldwin University is searching for Director of Events, Facilities and Student Involvement. This internship is an entry-level position, which reports directly to the Director of Athletics, and is partially funded by an NCAA Division III Woman and Minority Internship grant. The Director of Events, Facilities and Student Involvement will also work closely with the Associate Director of Athletics on a daily basis, as well as the Virginia Women In Leadership (VWIL), the Office of Student Engagement, University Advancement, and the Office of Integrated Communications for special events as well as the Physical Education Department for classroom space.
75% - The Director of Events, Facilities and Student Involvement will coordinate schedules, facilities and staffing of regular-season, post-season, practices, academic classes, study halls and special events for the athletic department. Duties may include, but are not limited to: ? Work with coaches to schedule facilities for practices and contests ? Coordinate set-up for events/contests with coaches assigned to help with each sport ? Coordinate staffing for event – ball runners, scorer’s table, videographer, security, etc. ? Work with coaches, physical education faculty and VWIL leadership to coordinate use of classrooms and alternate gymnasium for team study halls, meetings, indoor workouts during inclement weather, etc. ? Work with Athletic Administration and other campus groups on special events such as Family Weekend (fall), Homecoming Weekend (spring), Athletic Hall of Fame, Fundraising events (ex: golf tournament), etc. 25% - The Director of Events, Facilities and Student Involvement will also serve as an advisor for the Student-Athlete Athletic Council (SAAC) and be a member of the Athletic Department Leadership Team and the MBU Student Engagement team. Duties may include, but are not limited to: ? Serve as the SAAC co-advisor ? Serve on Athletic Leadership team ? Athletics reports to the Vice President of Student Engagement – administrators serve on a Student-Engagement committee. Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree. An understanding of NCAA Division III rules. Excellent organization and communication skills necessary. First Aid, AED and CPR certifications, or willingness to secure certifications upon hiring. Must pass background checks, have a valid driver’s license, a good driving record, and be available to drive team vans when needed.
Preferred Qualifications: Prior experience with staff supervision and administrative responsibilities.
