The University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) is accepting applications for the position of Staff Associate, Men’s Basketball. This is a career, full-time position with a targeted salary range of $44,912.88 - $51,051.60/year with full health benefits and membership in the UC Retirement Plan. Under the direct supervision of the Director of Administration, Men’s Basketball the Staff Associate, Men’s Basketball will be responsible for the day-to-day operations and maintenance of the basketball suite, while providing administrative support for the men’s basketball staff, especially the Head Coach. Primary responsibilities include: act as executive assistant to Head Coach; coordinating and executing ad hoc special projects as requested by Head Coach and Assistant Coaches; being a point of contact for men’s basketball office support staff in department activities; maintain suite appearance and operations; assist in logistical aspects of basketball recruiting; collaborate with department guidelines design and distribute custom graphics for Head Coach and staff; interface with the travel staff and coaches to ensure proper forms are completed and travel arrangements are made and confirmed; serve as a liaison to the Compliance Department regarding the Coaches Responsibility Log, rules and regulations inquiries; collaborate with department and development staff with donation requests; maintain office supply inventory; assist in the production of correspondence and compilation of manuals and reports; assist the Director of Administration, Men’s Basketball with maintaining the budget for the men’s basketball program to include ensuring that expenses are accounted for, invoices are paid and reporting is done; provide administrative support for men’s basketball camp operations as well as support to the Men’s Basketball Athletic Performance Coach; and travel with team as needed.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the following: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience; 3-5 Years’ experience working in a Division I Intercollegiate Athletic Department; Ability to exercise sound judgment to handle sensitive and confidential information/material with discretion; Ability to interact diplomatically with individuals of various social, cultural, economic, and educational backgrounds; Superior public relations skills, including outstanding interpersonal skills to establish and maintain effective working relationships and correspondence with staff, faculty, media, recruits, visiting coaches, donors, parents and PAC-12 and NCAA officials; Ability to plan, organize and prioritize assignments and work independently to complete assignments despite various deadlines, interruptions, competing requirements and changing priorities; Ability to compose and edit grammatically correct documents and correspondence; Ability to screen all walk-in visitors, calls and mail to establish priorities and make appropriate referrals; Ability to maintain composure in the face of resistance, indifference or hostility; Ability to organize and maintain a calendar system; Working knowledge of contracts and demonstrated budgetary skills. Previous experience maintaining/managing a multi-million dollar budget; Working knowledge of University purchasing, accounting and travel policies and procedures; Demonstrated word processing and computer skills to complete assignments with speed and accuracy; Ability to operate a computer with working knowledge of various computer software systems including Microsoft Excel and Word, Outlook, Recruiting Software (i.e. JumpForward, Teamworks); Working knowledge of University, PAC-12, and NCAA policies and procedures, especially as they relate to Recruiting rules and regulations; Ability to adhere to and comply with University, PAC-12, and NCAA rules and regulations; Knowledge of and ability to represent UCLA Men’s Basketball as a premier collegiate program.
