The Assistant Athletic Trainer will assist the athletic training staff in providing the best possible medical care for the student-athletes and visiting athletic teams.
Covers home events (games and practices) and travel with assigned team(s). Evaluates injuries and provides treatment and first-aid care. Plans and implements rehabilitation programs for serious injuries or post-surgical conditions. Keeps and maintains medical records for each athlete or sport, including date of injury, evaluation of injury, treatment or rehabilitation protocol, and progress report. Additionally, the assistant athletic trainer provides a professional clinical setting for Long Beach State students interested in pursuing a career in athletic training.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of physical therapy modalities and treatment protocols to provide a standardized care for the student-athlete.
Computer skills: MS Office and medical tracking software.
Ability to communicate with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community. Ability to follow all university policies, procedures, and guidelines including but not limited to safety, civility, information security, and non-discrimination policies and procedures. Ability to contribute to a positive university experience for each and every student, and assist in achieving the university's commitment to a "vision of excellence."
Education and Experience
A bachelor’s degree in athletic training, physical education, kinesiology or related field of study is required. Master's degree in athletic training or a related field preferred. One year of Division I NCAA experience preferred. Athletic training certification in good standing by the National Athletic Trainers Association - Board of Certification. CPR/AED certification. First Aid certification. Valid California driver's license.
Athletics Sports Medicine
The salary range for this classification is $3,571 to $6,892 per month.

Full-time temporary position to May 17, 2022 with no permanent status granted. Temporary assignments may expire prior to the ending date. Must be able to manage a work schedule that includes nights, weekends, and travel with teams to away games.
