ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Ability to motivate and lead student-athletes toward competitive and academic success.
• Proven experience working with and improving the performance of elite volleyball student-athletes.
• Teach and instruct the technical and motivational aspects of the sport to all student-athletes.
• Develop, coordinate and supervise practice and training of all student-athletes.
• Experience in recruiting highly competitive individuals while supporting the development of each student-athlete spiritually, academically, physically and socially.
• Support the individual academic goals of student-athletes and provide opportunities for academic assistance to student-athletes if required, monitoring the academic progress of each participating student-athlete.
• Observe all St. Mary’s University, Lone Star Conference, and NCAA policies and requirements
• Ability to work effectively with faculty, staff and students from a variety of diverse backgrounds.

Other Duties:

• Prepare, evaluate and maintain administrative and certification data for each student-athlete including the scheduling of games, practices and academic counseling of each student
• Raise funds to enhance the Women’s Volleyball budget
• Maintain the budget for the Women’s Volleyball program
• Oversee a full-time assistant coach
• Valid driver’s license
• Assist with other athletic department duties as needed

EDUCATION:  Bachelor’s degree from accredited institution. Master’s degree preferred.

EXPERIENCE:  Requires excellent speaking, writing and basic computer skills.  Ability to articulate ideas and strategies.  Coaching experience at the collegiate level preferred

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing this role, the employee will be regularly required to sit, walk, and stand; talk and hear, both in person and by telephone; and use hands repetitively to operate standard office equipment; and occasionally required to lift up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
