Marketing Intern

Job Title: Paid Intern – Marketing Job Category: Student Employment Compensation: Will include stipend not to exceed $5,000 over a ten (10) month period (August-May). A furnished apartment to be shared with three other individuals working in the athletic department will also be included. The Intern is still responsible for paying utilities. Additional compensation over the summer months will be determined at the discretion/needs of the athletics department. Type of Position: Student Job Summary: Will be responsible for assisting with day-to-day activities of the office which include creating and implementing marketing plans for assigned sports and others as needed. Those efforts include working with coaching staff, writing and executing marketing plans, developing and implementing marketing strategies; creating strategies for fan engagement and attendance; development, execution & coordination of event production scripts; supervising student-workers assigned to gameday and other activities and/or special events. Assist in the execution of social media plans to support department efforts and/or for assigned sports. Assist in the planning, preparation, setup and execution of special events. This position is an appointment for the 2021-22 academic year. Required Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in progress from an accredited institution in Sports Management or related field Required Experience: Any previous experience as a student-athlete and/or in a marketing capacity. Practical experience with all forms of social media. Preferred Education/Experience: Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in progress. Must be willing to work long hours including nights, weekends and holidays in addition to the weekly office hours scheduled around University classes. Successful candidates must be willing to work all home football games and home games for assigned sports. Skills/Knowledge/Abilities: Passionate, dedicated, hard-working and organized with excellent written/verbal communication skills and a strong desire to pursue a career in marketing athletics field. Superior character, integrity, ownership, accountability and responsibility. Extra consideration will be given to qualified in-state applications. Prior experience in marketing and hosting of athletic events at the Division 1 level preferred. Familiar with NCAA procedures and protocols.
