The Academic Resource Center (ARC) embodies this value by guiding students in their intellectual, emotional and social development, providing students with academic strategies and individualized support needed for academic success and inclusion within the Georgetown community. The Coordinator for Student-Athlete Services provides academic coaching to empower student-athletes to become student-centered learners and to enhance their academic performance. They are accountable for advising 700+ Division I college student-athletes in balancing priorities for both academic and athletic achievement, and are responsible for developing, implementing, delivering and evaluating academic programs for 27 athletic teams. They routinely interact with senior administrators and program partners across the University, collaborate with outside support services as needed, and represent the university to students, parents, alumni and other constituencies. Reporting to the ARC Executive Director, the Coordinator for Student-Athlete Services has duties that include but are not limited to: Direct Academic Support for Student-Athletes Assess academic needs of student-athletes. Provide individualized and holistic support services and program access. Develop, implement, deliver and evaluate academic programs. Develop strong working relationships with students toward their informed academic decisions and self-efficacy development. Develop, implement, deliver and evaluate summer academic programs for incoming football student-athletes. Develop protocols and support systems for high-need, at-risk student-athletes. Refer students to appropriate support services within and outside of the university. Liaison for University Stakeholders Establish goals, develop policy and participate in institutional planning regarding student-athlete education and welfare. Participate in institutional planning regarding student-athlete education and welfare. Interface with senior university administrators across different schools, with directors of programs who integrate academic and curricular experiences, and with departments that provide direct and administrative student services in the interest of the student-athletes’ needs. Administration Recruit, train, mentor and supervise 3-5 Graduate Assistants who provide direct supervision of regional and/or national teams. Recruit and supervise 5-10 undergraduate peer tutors. Participate in recruiting for all athletic teams. Communicate all injuries and illnesses for student-athletes to professors, deans and other campus professionals. Provide coordination for all team travel notifications to campus professionals for 27 teams; student-athlete participation in University mandated programming; mid-term and final exam conflicts for student-athletes due to team travel; and priority registration for student-athletes. Research and write reports for the ARC ED, Athletic Director and others as required. Participate in meetings, activities, and events as assigned. Participate in the recruitment of campus professionals performing duties for which this position is a key campus stakeholder. Oversee a budget for Graduate Assistants and Georgetown Athletics tutors. NCAA Compliance and University Policies Monitor student-athlete academic progress for initial eligibility, transfer eligibility, continued eligibility and graduation in accordance with University, NCAA, Big East and Patriot League regulations. Maintain currency with relevant Georgetown Athletics and university rules and regulations. Interact with senior Georgetown Athletics staff and the Provost’s Office to ensure to ensure compliance with NCAA, Big East, Patriot League and University regulations; and and develop risk management protocols and policies to manage gaps.
