Sports Information Graduate Assistant

REPORTS TO: Director of Sports Information and Promotions DEPARTMENT: Athletics POSITION DESCRIPTION: Berry College, a Division III member of the NCAA and Southern Athletic Association (SAA) located in Rome, Ga., is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Sports Information Graduate Assistant. This part-time position is open to those who are in the process of enrolling in a graduate program at Berry College or have recently been accepted to a graduate program at Berry. Enrollment in one of Berry College’s graduate programs is a requirement of this position. RESPONSIBILITIES: The graduate assistant will be assigned primary responsibilities based on experience & interest in several areas including: •Video production & photography •Live video broadcasts (play-by-play, live streaming) •Print publications including media guides and game programs •Social media •Feature writing •Game operations •Serve as a contact for assigned sports •Assist in game day operations for all sports •Assist with website management and content for BerryVikings.com •Train and supervise sports information student staff •Communicate and interact effectively, respectfully and appropriately with student-athletes, coaches, administrators and other personnel REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: •Bachelor’s degree in sport management, communication, journalism, public relations or related field •Strong writing and editing skills, with knowledge of AP style •Knowledge of social media sites (Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Instagram, etc.) DESIRED: •Knowledge of StatCrew, Presto and NCAA Live Stats software •Prior experience in a collegiate sports information office •Experience with photography and videography •Knowledge of SIDEARM •Experience in desktop publishing with Adobe InDesign and Photoshop •Experience with Adobe Premiere Pro CONDITIONS: •Graduate Assistants must be in and remain in good academic standing while enrolled in a Berry College graduate program •Tuition waiver – must enroll in at least six credits and maintain at least a 3.0 GPA; a total of 18 hours per calendar year will be waived •Complete 20 hours of work each week and receive satisfactory evaluations from the supervisor of graduate assistant work •Must be willing to work evenings and weekends •Comply with all requirements of a Berry student as found in the Graduate Student Catalog and the Viking Code APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS: To apply, please submit a resume, cover letter, and the contact information for three professional references to: https://berry.interviewexchange.com/static/clients/563BCM1/index.jsp .This job is open until filled.
