Head Strength and Conditioning Coach

Nature of Work: To establish, conduct, and oversee individual and team strength training and conditioning programs for all designated intercollegiate programs and student-athletes. Responsibilities will also include managing the use and scheduling of the intercollegiate weight room facility, purchasing, and maintenance of related equipment. Examples of Work Performed: 1. Represent Wayne State College and the Athletic Department in a positive manner with a high degree of integrity and quality. 2. Promote and support Wayne State College Athletic Department’s program mission and goals. 3. Direct, manage, and schedule intercollegiate programs and student-athletes. 4. Establish, conduct, and oversee individual and team strength training and conditioning programs for all designated intercollegiate programs and student-athletes. 5. Counsel, instruct, and advise coaches, student-athletes, and athletic trainers on various components, mechanics, and exercises of the strength and conditioning program. 6. Ensure enforcement and compliance of NCAA and NSIC rules and regulations pertaining to in-season and out-of-season workouts and training. 7. Conduct and oversee summer strength and conditioning workouts and programs. 8. Collaborate with coaches, athletic training staff, athletics administration, and other departments on the overall welfare for student-athletes. 9. Oversee the purchasing and maintenance of strength and conditioning equipment. 10. Provide nutritional instruction, coaching, and oversight to all student-athletes, including creating pre and post workout and completion meal plans. 11. Coordinate ordering all nutritional supplements for teams and provides education on NCAA compliant nutritional supplements. 12. Host nutrition training sessions for each team to educate about proper calorie intake, hydration, meal timing, etc. 13. Responsible for the oversight and training of CPR certification for all Athletic Department staff. 14. Oversight of strength and conditioning budget. 15. Assist with on-campus recruiting of prospective student athletes. 16. Other duties assigned by the Director for Athletics may include, but not limited to event and facility management.

Bachelor’s degree in related field and coaching experience. Strength and conditioning coaching or specialist certification from a national accredited association or program (i.e., NSCA-CSCS, USAW, etc.). |
