Head Triathlon Coach

Wagner College, a Division I Football Championship Subdivision institution and a member of the Northeast Conference, is seeking a Head Triathlon Coach that will contribute to the educational mission of the College by offering direction, instruction, and sustainability in the sport of Triathlon. Position will focus on the recruitment and development of qualified student-athletes. The Head Triathlon Coach is responsible to plan, develop and administer all phases of a Division I Triathlon program. A bachelor’s degree is required, master’s preferred. Applicants must have coaching and triathlon experience, with preference to those with collegiate experience and USA Triathlon Coach Certification. Acquired knowledge of industry standards for equipment and the ability to manage student-athlete equipment. Ability to engage with university and industry compliance and support services. Ability to engage with donors and the community in fundraising and other promotional activities. Exceptional leadership, communication and organizational skills. An understanding of and commitment to adhering to all the policies, rules and regulations of Wagner College, the Northeast Conference and the NCAA. Specific Tasks/Duties Performed: •Contributes to the educational mission of the College by coordinating the instruction of student-athletes in the area of triathlon and competition; •Recruits qualified student-athletes for the triathlon program both nationally and internationally; •Instructs methods and strategies and coaches student-athletes in the sport; •Makes recommendations for scholarships; •Schedules practices and competitions; •Coordinates travel (ex: bus/air, hotel, meals, etc.); •Transports and supervises student-athletes while on the road; •Trains and supervises assistant coach(es); •Monitors specific sport budget to ensure fiscal responsibility, including financial development with donors; •Operates the program under the rules and regulations of the College, Northeast Conference, and the NCAA; •Performs other duties as assigned by the Associate Athletics Director Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: •Strong interpersonal, organizational, written and oral communication skills. •Knowledge of coaching and teaching techniques and the ability to effectively use them. •Ability to work mornings/evenings, weekends, and holidays when necessary. •Ability to drive a personal or College vehicle for the purpose of college business on a regular basis. •Ability to travel when necessary •Knowledge of recruiting techniques and the ability to effectively use them. Confidentiality is a critical factor in the integrity of the compliance program and it is expected that any violation of NCAA rules or regulations will be reported to the Director of Athletics for review. Further, in accordance with NCAA Bylaw 11.2, any athletic department employee who is found in violation of NCAA regulations shall be subject to disciplinary or corrective action as set forth in the provisions of the NCAA enforcement procedures. This may include suspension without pay, or termination if the employee is found to be involved in deliberate and serious violations of NCAA regulations.
