Asst Athletics Director for Student-Athlete Development

Assist the Athletic Director and Sr. Associate AD in establishing and implementing the professional/personal/leadership development programming, activities/events and policies and procedures for the Student-Athlete Development Office within the Athletics Department. Responsible for direction and supervision of all student-athlete career planning, community service, professional/personal/leadership development, educational initiatives, Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), Student Assistance Fund (SAF) and data reporting. Identify and implement Student-Athlete Development programming for student-athletes that addresses current student-athlete needs and national trends while remaining cognizant of the importance of diversity and inclusion. Develop and maintain relationships with all student-athletes to assist them with counseling/advisement, securing employment/internships and to groom and nominate for FSU, regional and national awards and scholarships. Maintain relationships with key campus constituent offices (e.g., Student Affairs, University Health Services, Career Center, Student Government Association) and encourage student-athletes to utilize campus resources in an effort to ensure student-athlete integration with the campus and student body. Work with Varsity Club and Seminole Boosters to encourage ongoing communications with former student-athletes. Assist coaching staff in on-campus recruiting of prospective student-athletes, which includes interaction with recruits and their families, coaches, and alumni. Serve as a member of the Athletics department’s senior management team. Serve as Sport Administrator for an FSU varsity sport. Provide guidance, communication and leadership to the coaches regarding budgeting and other key aspects of the sport program and encourage the student-athletes to fully maximize their college experience. Athletics Diversity and Inclusion Officer: In support of the University's Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) initiatives, enhance the student and staff experience in the athletics department through the development and implementation of an EDI strategic plan. Promote a climate and culture throughout the department that fosters diversity and inclusion. Provide impactful educational opportunities and programming for student-athletes. Chair and oversee an Athletics department EDI Committee comprised of administration, coaches, staff, Seminole Boosters, SAs and campus partners. Serve on and support the President's Council on Diversity & Inclusion and other relevant community groups. Liaison with the University's Chief Diversity Officer to provide training and educational opportunities for coaches and staff to foster learning. Partner with the Office of Human Resources to ensure athletics recruitment and retention practices are committed to the principles of Diversity and Inclusion. Regularly report out to the Athletics Director on the progress of EDI efforts. FSU Name Image Likeness (NIL) Task Force: In anticipation of the adoption of NCAA legislation establishing NIL regulations applicable to all student-athletes, serve on the NIL task force to plan educational and personal branding/brand equity initiatives for student-athletes as part of the “NoleLIMIT” program. Seminole Leadership Strategies (SLS) Course: Responsible for creating and facilitating the SLS academic courses focused on holistic student development for freshmen student-athletes as well as upperclassmen. Course coordination will include maintaining course content and framework, guest speaker identification and scheduling, assessment and program evaluation, determining seminar outcomes and measurements for success.
