Sr. Strategic Communications Consultant

The University of Missouri, a member of the SEC and a Division I institution, is seeking highly motivated applicants for the position of Sr. Strategic Communications Consultant. Reporting to the Deputy Director of Athletics, this position will be responsible for providing media relations support to assigned programs, in brand building, content generation, internal digital media content creation and strategies and media relations to positively impact and elevate the Mizzou Athletics' brand; additionally, this position will serve as the primary contact for the Mizzou Football program and will develop and execute long-term vision for the communications function within assigned programs. Must possess experience related to social media content generation and strategy and website maintenance, including experience in writing game stories, advances, and features; coordinating interview requests; producing publications; production of game notes, game programs and game-day operations; experience in writing, editing and designing media guides and game programs; experience in Associated Press-style writing skills and proficiency in layout and design software ( Adobe Suite, including Photoshop, InDesign, Premiere, etc,); must possess experience providing social media training to student-athletes, coaches and staff; superb strategy, writing, editing and communication skills; strong management and mentoring skills and knowledge and experience coaching and supporting individuals as spokespeople and social media content creators. Must have the ability to work independently and take direction from others, solve problems with limited supervision, prioritize tasks and meet deadlines. Requirements for this position include a Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 4 years of experience. PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS to include knowledge of NCAA rules and compliance issues; previous experience working with a FBS football program or professional team; familiarity and experience with statistical software; experience working with network television to produce games and features; experience managing a football press box and managing day-to-day media relation duties of a football program and experience managing digital content creation and strategies, including photographer and/or video production. Must be professional, organized, creative and efficient. Some travel, as well as evening and weekend work, will be required. |
