Graduate Assistants - Media Relations & Digital Media/Live Event Production

Belmont University is seeking applicants for three graduate assistant positions in its Athletic Media Relations office – 2 in Media Relations and 1 in Digital Media/Live Event Production. The Media Relations positions will encompass various duties, including: serving as a primary media relations’ contact for assigned sports including, but not limited to: women’s basketball, baseball, volleyball, M/W soccer, softball, Olympic sports; acting as an intermediary between the athletic program and various media outlets; serving as secondary media relations contact for men’s basketball; assisting with the planning, staffing and coverage of all BU sports; updating the official athletic website of Belmont University Athletics, belmontbruins.com; writing and disseminating press releases; media guide layout design and content management; statistical upkeep; assisting staff with game day operations; supporting multimedia endeavors, including, but not limited to: social media; graphic design, live event video streaming,; and other duties as assigned. The Digital Media/Live Event Production graduate assistant position will involve multiple responsibilities, including: assuming a leadership position supporting Belmont’s live video productions on ESPN +; working in concert with faculty members, athletic administrators, and undergraduate students in production content, themes, graphical look; serving as game-day site manager, including, but not limited to: directing, producing, camera operation, graphic/CG operation, instant replay, team with media studies’ instructors to enhance educational experience; leading production meetings; equipment setup, breakdown and maintenance; providing production and editing support for highlight and interview video content on BelmontBruins.com; on-air responsibilities, as needed; managing and archiving all digital assets; acting as an intermediary between the athletic program, conference office, and various media outlets; serving as secondary media relations contact for 17 Division I athletic teams; supporting multimedia endeavors, including, but not limited to: promotional videos, social media, special events; graphic design for marketing campaigns; and other duties as assigned.

Requirements: Media Relations: Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications or related field, acceptance into Belmont University’s Sport Administration graduate program or another approved graduate program, and 1-2 years of experience in the athletic media relations’ field. Must have proven written and oral communications skills, with the ability to produce creative content, press releases, game notes, media guides and other game day materials. Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Spark, Audition, etc.), NCAA Genius & Stat Crew statistical software and social media management platforms (Hootsuite, TweetDeck, comparable) required. Experience with HTML and Netitor, XOS, NeuLion, PrestoSports or comparable online content management system a plus. Previous intercollegiate athletic SID experience preferred. Involves periodic travel and night/weekend hours.
Digital Media/Live Event Production: Bachelor’s degree in media studies, journalism, communications, audio/video production or related field with at least one year of experience in the athletic media relations field, preferably in an intercollegiate athletics environment. Experience in video production (specifically NewTek Tricaster, Ross XPression, LiveU or comparable), instant replay (NewTek or comparable), and editing (Adobe Creative Cloud or comparable). Proven leadership in live video production environment strongly desired, as well as experience with Adobe Creative Suite and Adobe InDesign. Involves periodic travel and night/weekend hours.
