POSITION SUMMARY:Duties of the Employee: This is a full-time, exempt position, hired by and directly accountable to the Board of Directors through its elected Board Chairman. The Executive Director is responsible for the overall administration and management of the Greater Waco Sports Commission, Inc. including services, fundraising, event recruitment, and business operations.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: A minimum of a four-year degree, masters preferred, and/or equivalent of 3+ years’ experience as executive director or leadership role in event, business, or organizational development.
AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:
Management and Administration:
Develop and facilitate an active strategic planning process
Develop organizational goals and objectives consistent with the mission and vision of the GWSC.
Develop and administer operational policies.
Oversee all services and activities to ensure that program objectives are met.
Service existing client contracts and relationships
Oversee business development.
Oversee owned event production
Ensure compliance with funding sources and regulatory requirements.
Provide information for evaluation of the organization’s activities.
Develop, recommend, and monitor annual and event budgets.
Ensure effective audit trails.
Provide proper fiscal record-keeping and reporting.
Submit monthly financial statements to Board of Trustees.
Prepare and submit grant applications, funding proposals, and requests for services to appropriate governmental funding sources.
Administer board-approved personnel policies.
Ensure proper (legal) hiring and termination procedures.
Oversee any and all disciplinary actions.
Provide for adequate supervision and evaluation of all staff, contractors, and volunteers.
Assist the Board President in planning the agenda and materials for board meetings
Assist the Board Secretary in preparation of minutes
Assist the Board Treasurer in preparation of financial statements.
Initiate and assist in developing policy recommendations and in setting priorities
Facilitate the orientation of new board members
Work with the board to raise funds from the community
Staff board and event committee as appropriate.
Serve as the chief liaison with event rights holders
Serve as the chief liaison with national industry groups
Serve as the chief liaison with specific local community groups
Ensure appropriate representation of the Sports Commission in the community by all employees
Coordinate the representation of the Sports Commission to legislative bodies and other groups
Represent the Sports Commission within the tourism, sports tourism, and recreation community
