| United Soccer Coaches is the trusted and unifying voice, advocate and partner for soccer coaches at all levels of the game. It is a non-profit membership association founded in 1941 and based in Kansas City, MO. Our association is founded on diversity, inclusion and equity and we encourage applications from women, minorities, veterans and persons with disabilities. United Soccer Coaches is seeking a College Programs Officer to support the association’s College members and college soccer overall. The College Programs Officer's responsibilities will include: 1. Legislation. Advocate on behalf of United Soccer Coaches for issues important to its women’s and men’s college coach members, including but not limited to:
a. Bring forward and/or facilitate the success of legislation that supports college soccer and is supported by our members.
b. Develop and maintain relationships with NCAA and NAIA boards, councils, committees, subcommittees (i.e. legislation, championship, rules, amateurism & eligibility, sport science) and staff regarding legislation, rules, research, etc.
c. Regular communication with college men’s and women’s committees, Advocacy Groups and membership regarding NCAA, NAIA and other college governance bodies, pending and active legislation and initiatives and their impact on college soccer.
d. Respond to NCAA and other governance body inquiries about United Soccer Coaches’ college members’ position on proposed legislation. 2. Communication. Communicate in a timely manner with college coaches on all relevant topics, including but not limited to:
a. Direct communication via the college listservs and email.
b. Work with Marketing Dept. to develop college presence within association social and other medias.
c. Contribute to monthly college email newsletters.
d. Survey and report on coaches and student-athletes about current issues as needed.
e. Developing story and article ideas for all platforms used by the association. 3. Membership Development. Actively work with the Membership and Marketing departments to maintain and grow College Services membership to meet annual revenue and expense goals. Responsibility for development and management of the College Programs budget as part of the annual association budget process. 4. External Liaison. Serve as United Soccer Coaches staff liaison as it pertains to college coaches and the college game to US Soccer, MLS, NWSL, international bodies, NISOA, NCAA Men’s and Women’s Soccer Championships Committees, and the NCAA Men’s and Women’s Soccer Rules Committee. Insure that CEO and any other appropriate staff are fully informed and included as appropriate. - Internal Liaison. Serve as a staff liaison to the United Soccer Coaches’ Men’s and Women’s College Coaches Advocacy Groups and the Men’ and Women’s Division Subcommittees. Facilitate the in-person and virtual meetings. Serve as staff liaison to any ad hoc committee or task force dealing with college soccer. Report on relevant issues to the CEO. Work with all departments to manage collegiate-focused activities at the United Soccer Coaches Annual Convention including but not limited to the College Reception, College Coach Diploma, college coach panels and presenters.
- ICAC Representation. Serve as United Soccer Coaches representative on the Intercollegiate Coaches Association Coalition providing leadership for both college soccer specifically and the non-revenue college sports collectively.
- Championships. As determined by the NCAA and NAIA, work with the national office departments to provide appropriate promotional support to host institutions, local organizing committees, NCAA championships committees and local teams/clubs to promote the Men’s and Women’s College Cups.
- Awards. Work with the Awards Committee and Advocacy Council as needed to support the All-America, Coaches of the Year and other collegiate awards process.
- Promotion. Collaborate with United Soccer Coaches Membership and Marketing departments to seek avenues to promote college soccer via publicity concepts, internal content (newsletters, SJ, podcast, webinars, blogs, etc.) and external placement of college members representing the association on podcasts, webcasts, TV, radio and other channels.
- Officiating. Work with the National Intercollegiate Soccer Officials Association to improve communication between coaches and officials as well as support NISOA’s efforts to recruit new and diverse officials.
