Lead Administrator - Football Academics Lubbock 22225BR Academics
Position Description Performs managerial work providing direction and guidance in setting and achieving goals and objectives; developing policies; reviewing guidelines, procedures, rules, and regulations; establishing priorities, standards, and measurement tools for determining progress in meeting goals; coordinating and evaluating program activities; and establishing and monitoring budgets. May plan, assign and supervise the work of others. Works under limited supervision with latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.
Monitor and evaluate progress toward degree and eligibility requirements for a caseload of football student-athletes. Maintain records in compliance with Texas Tech University, Big 12 Conference and NCAA standards
Serve as a contact between Academic Services and the football coaching staff; Assist Leadership Academy in coordinating faculty/staff guest coaching activities for football
Serve as an athletic academic services liaison to staff and faculty; Work in collaboration athletic compliance and athletic certification to ensure proper procedures and process
Collaborate with the Learning Assistance Program staff to assign tutoring, learning specialist sessions, academic coaching meetings, and study hall requirements for student-athletes
Assist with the degree progress and support of student-athletes participating in the sport of Football; Assist with the recruiting activities as needed. Meet with & guide prospective student-athletes through pre-TTU admission process
Monitor academic progress and proactively create intervention plans
Prepare necessary reports and updates for coaches and staff; Advise student-athletes in academic progress, degree selection, appropriate class selection, academic policies & campus resources
Practice clearance for football student-athletes
Additional administrative duties include but are not limited to: Red Raider Orientation (RRO) for Athletics
Coordinate Spring RRO and other RRO sessions for incoming Football signees; responsible football walk-on & tryout clearance
Provide consistent and frequent communication with Assistant Athletics Director for Football Academics and with coaches about the progress of assigned student-athletes
Comply with all NCAA, Big 12, Texas Tech University, federal and state procedures, rules, regulations and policies
Coordinate student-athlete class checking program for all sports
Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in area of expertise or closely related area required. Five (5) years of experience in planning, developing, or implementing programs or research grants. Additional education may substitute for required experience on a year-for-year basis.
Preferred Qualifications Master's degree in counseling, sport management, higher education or related area.
