The Assistant Coach is responsible for assisting the head coach in recruiting and retaining student athletes. This individual will also be responsible for assisting the head coach with organizing and conducting practices; adhering to NJCAA coaching principles; support and participate in development, fundraising and corporate sponsorship efforts in partnership with the Harford Community College Foundation; and performing other duties as assigned by the Athletic Director.
The Assistant Coach must possess the expertise in their respective sport and exhibit excellence in coaching and instruction in practice and contests while serving as a positive example of a leader and role model.
A high school diploma/GED and college credits with a minimum of 30 hours or more are required; bachelor’s degree preferred. A minimum of three (3) years of experience, with a combination of active game situation coaching at the high school, club/select, or collegiate level are required. Multiple years of professional playing/coaching experience will be accepted.
Other requirements include:
A valid Driver’s License and a good driving record with fewer than three points
Demonstrated expertise in sports strategies that allow excellence in coaching and instruction in practice and contests while serving as a positive example of a leader and role model
Excellent and effective communication skills
Prior experience and participation in development, fundraising and corporate sponsorship efforts
Preference will be given to candidates familiar with NJCAA and Maryland JUCO guidelines and policies.
