Division III Strategic Alliance Matching Grant is designed to provide financial assistance to Division III conferences and member institutions committed to enhancing ethnic minority and gender representation in mid- to senior-level intercollegiate athletics administrative positions
As a key member of the athletics department, the staff assistant for athletics communications and event management will work closely with the 15 varsity sports currently sponsored by the university to increase the visibility of Viking athletics and further its integration on campus and in the community. This position will serve as the assistant to the sports information director and will work directly with the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), coaches, administrators, and student groups on campus to form a strategic marketing plan for the implementation and awareness of special events, contests, and promotions surrounding athletics.
Please be advised, Salem State University and the APA union (this position is a member of this bargaining unit), have come to an agreement on a furlough program for fiscal year 2021. As such, APA and NUP (non-unit professional) employees will take up to four (4) weeks of furlough in FY21. In addition, it is expected that APA and NUP employees will take at least two (2) weeks of furlough, but no more than three (3) weeks, by January 2, 2021. Employees will work directly with their hiring managers to determine the timing of furlough weeks based on operational needs. Bachelor's degree in athletics administration, marketing, communications or related field
Experience in a related field including marketing, event planning and management, sports information, or athletics operations
Experience in multi-media communications, including in print, web-based, and through social media platforms
Experience in DIII athletics with an emphasis on student-athlete affairs programming
Experience in college or high school athletics administration
Experience with sports statistics recording and platforms, such as Presto
Strong organizational and communication skills
