The University of Pittsburgh’s Athletic Department is seeking a Coordinator of Budget and Business Operations. This position will be responsible for assisting the Associate Athletic Director for Business Services with the preparation, development, day-to-day monitoring, and communication of the Athletic Department’s annual $100 million operating budget. This will require that he/she prepare financial reports to be used by management, review annual budget submissions, monitor monthly-level reports, and Tableau dashboards, manage the use of Athletic Department trade, and work closely with coaches and support staff to ensure adherence to budgetary guidelines.
In addition to the individual’s budgetary responsibilities, he/she will be responsible for overseeing the Athletic Department’s medical insurance program for more than 475 student-athletes. He/she will track outstanding claims, fulfill payment obligations, and work in conjunction with the department’s insurer and other providers on billing issues. The incumbent will also be required to assist with other day-to-day functions in the Athletic Department and Business Office. This includes, but is not limited to coordinating accounting journal entries in our general ledger, the day-to-day management of contracts (including game, hotel, and service contracts), and the reconciliation of department-issued procurement and travel cards. The individual will report directly to the Associate Athletic Director for Business Services and will receive other tasks and direction from the Executive Associate Athletic Director for Business Administration and Human Resources.
Must have prior experience in finance and/or with NCAA regulations. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is a requirement. Experience in an Athletics setting is preferred. Experience interacting with or developing Tableau (or equivalent data visualization tool) dashboards is preferred.
