Summary: The Head Athletic Trainer (Head AT) will comply with all NAIA, AAC, and National Trainers Association guidelines, as well as those set forth by Montreat College. The Head AT is expected to affirm, model, and cultivate the Christ-centered mission of Montreat College and the Athletic Department. The Head AT will have full knowledge and understanding of the Athletic Training Room policies and procedures. The Head AT will educate, supervise, coordinate, and lead the assistant athletic training staff to ensure proper coverage of all home athletic events. When necessary, the Head Athletic Trainer will serve the Appalachian Athletic Conference at conference championship tournaments.
Duties: 1.Responsible for the overall operation of the Athletic Training Room (ATR) and oversee staffing for the ATR and coverage for all home athletic events. 2.Responsible for the ongoing development and communication of the ATR’s policies and procedures, and Emergency Action Plans for all teams and facilities. 3.Coordinate relationships with team physician(s). 4.Coordinate, document, and maintain records of all student athletes’ physicals and Cavaliers’ Medical Forms. 5.Maintain accurate documentation records. 6.Ensure that each student athlete has proper medical insurance coverage and complete injury reports and insurance claims in a timely manner. 7.Maintain and ensure proper stock of inventory for athletic training needs. 8.Responsible for maintaining athletic training budget. 9.Stay up to date with new techniques and equipment that could enhance Montreat College’s athletic training program. 10.Document and communicate effectively with coaches, student athletes, and other appropriate parties regarding sports injuries. 11.Develop and communicate athletic training policies and procedures for visiting teams. 12.Provide proper care and nurturing to student athletes for prevention, evaluation, management, rehabilitation, and treatment of injuries. 13.Assist coaches with obtaining coverage for summer camps/events. 14.Perform other duties as assigned by the Athletic Director.

A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year institution is required. Extra consideration will be given to candidates with successful recruiting, athletic development, and/or collegiate playing experience.
