Sports Medicine, Sports Medicine - Athletic Training
Shenandoah University, a NCAA Division III institution and a member of the Old Dominion Athletic Conference, is searching for qualified applicants for a full-time assistant athletic trainer. This is a full-time, 10-month benefited position located on our main campus in Winchester, VA.
The assistant athletic trainer operates under the supervision of the head athletic trainer and performs professional duties within their scope of practice to the competing NCAA student-athletes at Shenandoah University. Additionally, this NATABOC certified athletic trainer is responsible for the academic guidance to those in the ATEP program as a preceptor. The assistant athletic trainer is responsible for the prevention, evaluation, management and rehabilitation of injuries within the university’s comprehensive sports medicine program.
Requirements for this position:
Prevention, management, treatment and rehabilitation of injuries/illnesses/medical conditions of SU student-athletes.
Maintaining medical records on student-athletes to include physical examinations, insurance information, injury evaluation and rehabilitation reports.
Attending scheduled meetings, team practices and events including some travel.
Assisting in the management of institutional and NCAA drug testing.
Interfacing with coaches and the SU Strength and Conditioning Coach regarding injured student-athletes.
Following the NATA Code of Ethics as well as understanding and following HIPAA and FERPA regulations
Remaining current on all Virginia state and national requirements for license renewal.
Agreeing to comply with all University, ODAC and NCAA bylaws and legislation.
This position mentors those students in the graduate athletic program and supervises those students participating in the federal work-study program.
Masters degree preferred, BS/BA accepted. Experience with all sports offered at Shenandoah University favored. Must be in good standing with the Athletic Trainer Board of Certification, currently have or be eligible for the state licensure for the Commonwealth of Virginia and CPR/AED certified.
