Head Football Coach

DePauw University invites applications for the position of Head Football Coach. Reporting to the Associate Vice President for Campus Wellness & Theodore Katula Director of Athletics and Recreational Sports, the Head Football Coach will plan, direct, organize, and evaluate all phases of a competitive, NCAA Division III intercollegiate football program that competes in the North Coast Athletic Conference. Primary duties involve every aspect of administrative planning associated with the day-to-day operations of the program, including student-athlete recruitment; practice planning; scheduling; coordinating team travel; budget management; fundraising; supervision of assistant coaches and support staff; monitoring academic progress of student-athletes; coordination with admissions and enrollment policies and practices; use of appropriate institutional and sport-specific technology; and administration of the football program in full compliance with NCAA, North Coast Athletic Conference and DePauw University rules, regulations and standards. This is a full-time, 12-month appointment with full benefits. The position will assume a secondary responsibility within the athletics department as negotiated. Salary is negotiable and competitive within the Conference.

Bachelor’s Degree required, Master’s Degree preferred. Collegiate coaching experience required, ideally as a head coach or approximately seven years as a coordinator (offense, defense, special teams); experience in and appreciation for the principles and philosophies of NCAA Division III athletics; and experience directing a staff that will recruit 35+ student-athletes annually and provide quality on-field coaching. The ideal candidate must have excellent interpersonal, communication, organizational and time management skills; proven recruiting abilities; demonstrated experience in teaching and coaching the game; and must have a commitment to academic success, student-athlete well-being and diversity and inclusion. Candidate must have a valid driver’s license and be able to drive on behalf of the University. Current certification in first aid, CPR and AED is required and must be maintained throughout the appointment with DePauw University. Candidate must consent to and pass a background check. |
