ROLE of the POSITION This position reports directly to the Senior Athletic Director of Compliance and it responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the NCAA Compliance Office, independently interpreting and making determinations on matters related to compliance, and enforcing NCAA regulations as they pertain to Division I Athletics. This position supervises select Assistant Directors of Compliance, Graduate Assistants and interns. Supervision includes assigning specific duties, training and evaluating. Additionally, this position monitors and maintains UNLV’s compliance with NCAA rules and regulations.
This position should have a basic knowledge of NCAA rules as it pertains to assigned job duties and the scope of employment. In addition, this position will be responsible for obtaining proper guidance or approval from Athletics Compliance, prior to participating in select activities, as defined by NCAA bylaws or institutional policies.
QUALIFICATIONS This position requires a Bachelor’s Degree from a regionally accredited college or university and a minimum of two (2) years of related professional experience. In addition, this position must possess the following: •Good working knowledge and understanding of NCAA & MWC Manual and Governance Structure •Good working knowledge of University and State Business policies, procedures and regulations, including but not limited to State Administrative manual, Board of Regents Code and Nevada Administrative Code. •Good working knowledge of UNLV and MWC rules and regulations. •Good working knowledge of UNLV compliance policies and procedures. •Advanced skill in communications and public relations. Ability to speak and write using appropriate vocabulary and grammar to obtain information and explain policies and procedures. Interpersonal skills necessary to deal with issues which at times may be sensitive in nature or occur in a hostile or political environment. •Strong organization skills. •Ability to work with and maintain confidential material. •Ability to maintain accurate and complete records. •Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
SALARY RANGE Salary competitive with those at similarly situated institutions. Position is contingent upon funding.
