The Assistant Coach is responsible for assisting the Head Coach in recruiting, planning, coaching, scheduling opponents, training team members, and managing all aspects of the softball program for Williston State College.
Assist the head coach in formulating a successful philosophy to promote the educational welfare and sportsmanship of the student-athlete.
Assist the head coach in preparing a yearly budget for the softball program.
Assist in the purchase of equipment & uniforms and maintaining records of all purchases.
Assist the head coach in ensuring that all softball student-athletes meet NJCAA eligibility requirements and prepare eligibility forms to be sent to the NJCAA, and conference member schools.
Assist in arranging softball travel for team and recruiting.
Assist in developing fundraisers to improve the softball program.
Assist in camps to provide community service to youth in our area.
Assist in development and actively participate in a plan to enhance public relations for the softball program.
Assist in academic advising to student-athletes and in tracking of academic progress of student-athletes.
Assist the head coach in establishing and maintaining an ethical and moral code of behavior both on and off campus.
Assist the head coach in developing practice schedules and teach the fundamental skills of softball.
Support the philosophy and mission of the College.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Position Requirements:
At least one year of softball coaching or playing experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:
Strong computer skills.
Skill in preparing a budget.
Ability to work with a diverse team in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to stay abreast of current and developing trends (video, voice, data, and computing technologies).
Enthusiasm and the ability to thrive in an atmosphere of constant change.
